Visit the Crape Myrtle Trails
We invite you to visit McKinney and to tour the Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney.
You will see crape myrtles blooming as early as late May and continuing well into the fall. Because our city and most of our residents know that topping is a bad practice, you will see crape myrtles blooming three and four times each summer in our city.
Varieties bloom at slightly different times, but most will be in flower toward the end of June and into early July.
Crape myrtles are showcased in medians, also in public and private landscapes throughout the city, with the heaviest concentrations along Eldorado Parkway between Highway 5 (McDonald Street) on the east to Ridge Road on the west. There are major plantings on Hardin Road, Ridge Road, Collin McKinney Parkway and Stonebridge Drive.
The World Collection Park is one-half mile north of Sam Rayburn Tollway (TX 121) between Stacy and Alma in Craig Ranch, specifically at 6452 Collin McKinney Parkway. The park is open 7 days a week year ‘round. Its extensive paved pathways welcome families with kids, exercisers, visitors of all kinds. There are benches for relaxing and enjoying the view, informative signage, and even a unique sundial feature. Note: there are no restrooms on-site.
Note: We are updating and adding to the park at this time.
