The Board of the Crape Myrtle Trails (CMT) of McKinney proudly announces the “McKinney, Crape Myrtles and Me — Watch Us Grow” Poster Art Contest for 5th grade students who attend school in McKinney. The contest is being held in to promote community awareness of the beauty and appeal of our city by showcasing the premier flowering shrub of the South and promoting our city as “America’s Crape Myrtle City”.
Artists should incorporate the contest theme, “McKinney, Crape Myrtles and Me — Watch Us Grow” into poster entries designed with crayons, markers, and/or paint.
“These imaginative designs will assist in creating awareness of our beautiful Crape Myrtle Tails and the Crape Myrtle World Collection Park. With more than 15 miles of Crape Myrtle lined medians and streets and almost 30,000 trees planted we are well past the halfway mark on our goal to plant 50,000 trees in publicly visible places within 10 years,” stated Crape Myrtle Trails Chairman John Rattan . “We invite all 5th grade students who attend school in McKinney to showcase their artistic talent by participating in the CMT poster contest. This poster contest will help to achieve our goal of promoting awareness of the impact of the Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney.”
