Garden Tip: (This one isn’t going to be fun. I’m going to ask that you trust me on this – I’ve been down this road before.) Several varieties of crape myrtles in our side-by-side comparisons in the Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney have taken a hit from this past winter’s cold. While temperatures didn’t drop as low as they have in other years, there was sustained cold as well as cold that came earlier than usual. The result: several varieties have frozen to the ground. I have seen the same thing in other DFW area plantings, and it’s likely to be showing up in other parts of Texas as well....

2014 Fun Run & 5K and 10K

This year we have added a 10K to the event for the more serious runners.  We hope to attract from all over the county.  This year 2014 will begin at Cockrill Middle School and venue a whole new scene for the runners. Myrtle Village is a fun festival area for families to enjoy before and after the race.  The village consists of sponsor’s booths and tables  intermixed with games, activity stations and concessions.
